Trail Description...
The rides are of moderate difficulty. Pads and/or Easyboots are recommended! The desert terrain varies from rocky to sandy, has several steep climbs and downhills, some trails, cross country, and jeep roads. Elevation ranges from 4600' to 7500'. Ride management will provide water and snacks for horses and riders on the trail. The 25 miler (Saturday & Sunday) will consist of two loops, which offers the novice horse and rider a moderate challenge, while enjoying beautiful views from the mountain tops and the beach of Washoe Lake. The 50 miler will consist of three loops, each returning to camp for Control Checks. These loops will have an elevation gain of 1000' to 2000'. The last loop is flat, and partially travels along the lake in deep sand. Sunday’s 50 miler will consist of three different loops, each returning to camp for Control Checks. RIDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY WHILE CROSSING PAVED ROADS!!!
Trail Ride
We will be offering a 15 mile Trail Ride on Sunday for anyone interested in riding less than 25 miles. This trail will consist of two loops, both returning back to base camp. Riders will receive a special award, along with a meal. Trail Riders will not be required to present their horses for Control Judge exams.
Entry Fees
Pre-registration is requested.
- Saturday 25 mile ride - $ 80.00, $95.00 after 4/27/11 postmark
- Saturday 50 mile ride - $ 95.00, $110.00 after 4/27/11 postmark
- Saturday 25 mile ride - $ 70.00, $85.00 after 4/27/11 postmark
- Sunday 50 mile ride - $85.00, $100.00 after 4/27/11 postmark
- Sunday 15 mile trail ride - $30.00, (AERC fees and discounts do not apply to the trail ride
- 2-Day Discount (Riders entered both days will receive a $10.00 discount from total entry fees)
- Sponsered Juniors ride for half price
- Ride Managers will receive a $25.00 discount off total entry fee
- AERC non-member fee $15.00
Cancellations by 5/4/11 will receive a full refund. After 5/4/11 all but $25.00 will be refunded. No shows will receive no refund.
Completion Awards
Hay Bags with our screened Washoe Logo will be given to successful riders on Saturday. Sunday riders will be given the choice of several different awards. 50 milers - Special awards will be given for 1st Place Overall, Best Condition, 1st place in each weight division and junior division and Top Ten for both Saturday's and Sunday's ride. 25 Milers - A Horse Excellence Award will be chosen from all horses that finish the 25 miler, by their condition, and not finish time. Riders participating in our trail ride will receive a participation award.
